Koh Phangan is about 2.5 hours from Surat Thani Province and approximately 45 minutes from Koh Samui Island by boat. The easiest way from BKK to Koh Phangan is to buy joint tickets from Songserm Travel Center who operates joint ticket for (Ferry and Express boats, bus, train, planes) to Koh Phangan. Or you can fly an 60 minute flight by Bangkok Airways daily from BKK to Koh Samui and get the catamaran speed boat to Koh Phangan.
Koh Phangan was considered a backpackers destination, today a more mixed range of tourists arrives here. A thing many of guests have in common, visitors want to find a relaxed and interesting place. One exemption can be the Fullmoon party when the beach changes into a dancefloor.
Although Koh Phangan was for the first time discovered by backpackers about 22 years ago, the island was actually inhabited as long as 2000 years ago by sea gypsies traveling by boat from Malaysia. Phangan was then later targeted by chinese refugees many of them coming from the province Hainan .
